Military Care Package Checklist 2026
Sending a holiday box to someone serving overseas? The first USPS deadline is Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2026 (Ground Advantage). Priority Mail and First-Class to APO/FPO/DPO addresses: Wednesday, Dec. 9. Priority Mail Express Military: Dec. 16 where offered (not ZIP 093). These are USPS recommended dates, not guarantees. See the USPS table.
Before you pack: 5 quick tips
- Address it to a specific person with name, rank, unit and the APO/FPO/DPO address with 9-digit ZIP. Don't add a city or country name (USPS rule).
- USPS ships to military addresses at domestic prices, and you can order free APO/FPO Large Flat Rate Boxes from the Postal Store.
- Tuck a second copy of both addresses inside the box.
- Think about heat: chocolate and electronics can suffer in hot locations.
- Fill out the customs form online first (needed for many APO/FPO packages). Check restrictions for the ZIP with the USPS tool.
